Creating an Employer Value Proposition (EVP)
Client:
One of the leading gold mining companies in the world.
Challenge:
The client had an established mission and values but lacked a clear understanding of why employees may chose to work for them over the competition. With sites and offices all over the world, there was a need for the company to come together and gain a common understanding of what makes them a unique employer.
Solution:
Create an Employer Value Proposition (EVP) strategy to explain how they are a unique employer in the mining market, in order to attract and retain the best talent worldwide.
- Employees were interviewed across different roles, seniority levels and countries to gain a deep understanding of the company culture, what makes them proud to work there, leadership perceptions, diversity and inclusion and why they chose to stay with the company.
- A findings presentation was presented to the leadership team to align on the key themes we heard from the employee interviews and what the implications are for the EVP.
- 3 EVP options were created and evaluated by leadership using a set of strategic criteria.
- 1 EVP was selected and finalized along with the creation of an inspirational EVP story.
The goal was to create a compelling EVP strategy to entice potential employees to choose to work for them over the competition. Employees appreciated having their opinions included in the process and the final EVP was validated before launching to the public.
